Water and its reflection possess a unique ability to create a serene and peaceful atmosphere that transports us to a different world. The way clouds and deep water interact with each other in a symbiotic relationship can be mysterious and wondrous. Similarly, the way waterlilies interact with the sky creates a sense of harmony that's both calming and mesmerizing. Water allows different images to intersect with each other, creating a world that embraces what is underneath and above. It takes us on a transformative journey reflecting not only the physical world but also our innermost thoughts and emotions. This exploration of water and its reflection has enabled me to delve deeper into my unconsciousness, opening up a realm of exploration beyond what is visible.
It can be picked up locally as a stretched canvas, or shipped rolled in a tube.
Sealed with UV varnish. Comes with Certificate of Authenticity.
The second image is a mock up that shows how it would look when framed.
—-About the Process—-
With this piece, my aim was to convey the serene and embracing golden glow of twilight. I wanted to create a composition that allowed viewers' eyes to wander freely and find moments of rest. To achieve this, I deliberately positioned the horizon above the canvas, bringing the eye level closer to the water's surface. This shift seemed to expand my imagination for what might exist beyond. The shade cast by the overhanging tree and the reflections of the clouds on the water result from my imagined place and became intriguing visual elements for this piece.
In a deliberate choice, I let the paints drip down, as the resulting effects reminded me of the submerged roots of waterlilies. It also added a natural vertical movement. The presence of twigs in the water, along with their mirrored images, intrigued me as they whimsically hinted at the surface of the water. Through careful consideration of balance between the clustered and concentrated areas and the open, airy spaces, I intended for this piece to invite viewers to expand their own imagination of what lies beyond the confines of the canvas.
